“I See You”

The subject for this piece was a Red Tail Hawk. For many years I have had the opportunity to volunteer at the California Wildlife Center located in Southern California. The facility takes in orphaned and injured wildlife, rehabilitates them, and then releases them back into the wild. One of the patients was the reference image for this artwork. When I enter the outside aviaries to deliver their meal, the hawks are generally up on perches watching what I am doing. They appear to have a look of such serious concentration. “I see you” is what they seem to be telling me, hence the title of this piece.
